What Inspired Us to Become Florists

Originally from India, the owner of Select Flowers, Hamzaali Baldiwala, was a published poet and artist with a clinical psychology degree. Shortly after coming to Canada, he took a job delivering flowers during the busy Valentine’s Day season. When the people he delivered to were so excited and happy, he was hooked. His first experience designing flowers was also kismet. After he accidentally dropped a few arrangements, he remade them himself, and it was clear that his artistry extended to designing flowers. He made it official by going to school for floral design, and, eventually, opening Select Flowers.
